The 15-Minute PVC Pyramid

3-Inch-Wide White Gorilla Tape -- This is the strongest option due to its 3-inch width, its toughness, and its stickiness. And it's white! If using this tape, I recommend cutting the strips in Section >S2 into three 1-inch strips.
PVC Pipe Cutter -- If you plan on cutting your pipe, this makes the job much easier and less messy, and works for up to 2" PVC pipe. If you will be using 1.5" PVC pipe (or less), then you can get this one instead.
