3/8" Dowel Pyramids

Printed with 100% all-natural plant-based PLA, these kits are designed to connect together 3/8" (9.5mm) wooden dowel rods (not included) for six different types of pyramids: the Great Pyramid, with an approximate slope angle of 51.8°, the Equilateral Pyramid (54.7° slope angle), the Nubian Pyramid (72°), the Russian Pyramid (76.3°), and two different versions of what I call the Ra Pyramid (59.9° and 81.7°). You can purchase either the full, 5-piece kit, or just the apex piece. If you only get the apex piece, you will need four dowel rods, all of the same length. If you buy the full kit, you will need eight rods--and with the exception of the Equilateral Pyramid--you will need to cut some of them according to the instructions down below, which can be done with a miter saw, or simply using a hand saw. Try to get them as straight as possible, and if you find any of the dowel rods fit loosely in the holes, add a layer or two of tape to stiffen them up. Easily assembled, your pyramid should be placed upon a flat and level surface. Use for experiments, including testing to see if it can energize water, preserve food, grow larger sprouts, invigorate garden seeds, enhance the flavors of foods, and even sharpen razor blades!

Ideally, align your pyramid to either true north or magnetic north. After assembling, refer to the Alignment page for specific details.

The 3/8" Giza Connector Kit

With a slope angle of approximately 51.8°, this connector kit is in the same dimensions as the Great Pyramid and has historically been one of the favorite choices of experimenters in the past, including Patrick Flanagan, Max Toth, and many others. If you are simply buying the apex piece, you will need to buy four 3/8" (9.5mm) dowels of any length you choose, as long as they are all the same. For those who are purchasing the full kit, you will need eight dowels, with the four bottom ones slightly longer than the four rising ones. To calculate the length of the rising dowels, multiply the length of the bottom ones by 0.951. So for example, if your bottom dowels are 16", then your rising dowels would be 15+3/16". If they are 24", then your rising dowels would be 22+13/16". If 36", then 34+1/4". If 48", then 45+5/8".

The 3/8" Equilateral Connector Kit

The Equilateral Pyramid is a little steeper than the Great Pyramid with a slope angle of approximately 54.7°, whose sides form perfect equilateral triangles making it the most balanced pyramid of them all. The great thing about this pyramid is that whether you buy just the apex piece or the full kit, you do not need to cut any dowels, as long as they are all the same length. You will need four rods for the apex piece, and eight rods for the full kit. Again, make sure they are as straight as possible.

The 3/8" Nubian Connector Kit

Popularized by David Wilcock, this pyramid has a slope angle of 72°, and is similar in dimension as those pyramids commonly found in ancient Nubia (present-day Sudan), incorporating the pentagram and the sacred number, phi (1.618). If you are simply buying the apex piece, you will need to buy four 3/8" (9.5mm) dowels of any length you choose, as long as they are all the same. For those who are purchasing the full kit, you will need eight dowels, with the four rising ones being longer than the four bottom ones. To calculate the length of the bottom dowels, divide the length of the rising ones by 1.694. So for example, if your rising dowels are 24", then your bottom dowels would be 14+3/16". If they are 36", then your bottom dowels would be 21+1/4". If 48", then 28+5/16".

The 3/8" Russian Connector Kit

With an approximate slope angle of 76.3°, this pyramid has the same dimensions as those massive pyramids built by Alexander Golad in Russia, also incorporating the sacred number phi into its geometry. If you are simply buying the apex piece, you will need to buy four 3/8" (9.5mm) dowels of any length you choose, as long as they are all the same. For those who are purchasing the full kit, you will need eight dowels, with the four rising ones being longer than the four bottom ones. To calculate the length of the bottom dowels, divide the length of the rising ones by 2.176. So for example, if your rising dowels are 24", then your bottom dowels would be 11". If they are 36", then your bottom dowels would be 16+9/16". If 48", then 22+1/16".

The 3/8" Ra Connector Kit (59.88°)

The Ra collective has stated that the ideal dimensions for a pyramid would be where the height equals 1, and the perimeter equals 1.16. This translates to an extremely steep pyramid, almost like a steeple. Ra has admitted on occasion that they have occasionally made mathematical statements in error due to translation issues. While they did not say this was the case for this specific statement, I have to wonder whether they meant to say that the ideal dimensions of a pyramid would be where the height equals 1, and each side equals 1.16. This translates to a pyramid with a 59.88° slope angle which creates a cross section that is almost a perfect equilateral triangle. They have also recommended that pyramids should have an apex angle of less than 70°. With an apex angle of 60.24°, it is well below that threshold. I offer connector kits for 3/8" (9.5mm) dowels in both this revised version, as well as the steeper version for you to choose from. If you are simply buying the apex piece, you will need to buy four 3/8" (9.5mm) dowels of any length you choose, as long as they are all the same. For those who are purchasing the full kit, you will need eight dowels, with the four rising ones slightly longer than the four bottom ones. To calculate the length of the bottom dowels, multiply the length of the rising ones by 0.897. So for example, if your rising dowels are 16", then your bottom dowels would be 14+3/8". If they are 24", then your bottom dowels would be 21+1/2". If 36", then 32+5/16". If 48", then 43+1/16".

The 3/8" Ra Connector Kit (81.75°)

I wasn't kidding when I said that this pyramid is steep. In fact, with a slope angle of 81.75°, this is definitely the steepest pyramid that I sell, and is set to the dimensions of where the height equals 1, and the perimeter equals 1.16, exactly as the Ra collective suggested was the ideal dimension. The cool thing with this pyramid is that you can get three-foot (and even four-foot) long dowels for the rising legs while still being able to place it on your countertop because of its small width, allowing you to place larger items in it than the shallower pyramids. If you are getting just the apex piece, you will need to buy four dowels of the same length. For the full kit, to find the length of the bottom dowels, divide the length of the rising dowels by 3.52. So if your rising dowels were 24" long, your bottom dowels would be 6+13/16". If they are 36", then 10+1/4". If they are 48", then 13+5/8".

These connector pieces are made from 100% all-natural, plant-based PLA. While they can handle being outside in the weather just fine, they could potentially warp in extremely hot weather if left out in the direct sun for prolonged periods of time. Partial shade should be fine.

While these connector pieces are usually in the color that is pictured, they could be in a different color, depending upon the availability of the PLA. I strive to ship out my products within three days at the most, but I cannot guarantee how long it will take USPS to deliver it to you. Usually, it will arrive within about a week from when you order it, but sometimes it can take up to three weeks for USPS to deliver it if there is some sort of delay on their end.

Please be sure to recycle any packaging. If it came in plastic wrapping, bubble wrap, including a plastic bubble wrap envelope, they can all be recycled with your plastic bags at local grocery stores like Walmart and Safeway.

Customers purchasing from outside the United States are responsible for all taxes and duties, including, but not limited to: all customs fees, VAT, and any other tariffs involved to bring this into your country.

Customers from other countries are responsible for making sure they have the right-sized dowels to work with these connector pieces. If you purchase these and are not able to find the right size, I do accept returns, as long as it is returned in good condition, minus shipping costs.
